Hey, this is your terribly neglectful Auntie writing. I don't know what's the matter with me. I think of you all the time and I often start a note to write to you and I send NOTHING. I love you so much and I can't think of a single thing to say. What can I say to you that will make your day? I'm proud of you, I don't want to make too much of missing you, don't want to make being where you are harder. I know it seems eternity to get through what you are doing, but believe me when I say, in the grand plan of your life it will fly by. You are doing what you needed to do to be who you want to be, even the caterpillar has to spend time in the cocoon before he can fly. (I watched 'Alice in Wonderland' today, finally). So, what? Tell me, what can I say. I would send you a rainbow so you have a little beauty in the brown world there.
So, here's what's going on with me. Very Little. Michael got pretty excited about a JOURNEY cover band here in Portland, we saw them three times in 7 days with mixed results. The cool part of that story and the only part I want to tell you is that for a few days he was happy and not focused on sad stuff. It was awesome to seem him smile. Uncle James was in town, but I suppose your mom told you that. I didn't know until I saw him walking around my parking lot outside. I had been thinking about him but put off trying to seek him out until after Jamie's wedding next month, which turned out to be an error on my part because he hasn't seen or heard from his girls, and doesn't have anything to do with the wedding. I was very glad to see him for a couple of hours. I made him a balogna sandwich, gave him some fancy flavored potato chips, walked Rambo a couple of times and off he went. G'ma said John will be here this winter again, cool! I saw Amber when G'ma had her eye surgery and then a couple of weeks ago, she brought Dillon down to G'ma's and I got to see her for a couple of hours again. She came with Nicole, that was the last time I saw her also. We've texted or im'd on FB a couple times but she's got stuff going on. Last time I heard from her, she was thinking of getting a different car and decided against it. Excited about going to Disneyland with her dad. . . Busy. Maggie and Dori are surviving summer as well as a little dog in fur coat can. We still walk every morning, they hang out in the house all day and then we dash off to the park (the one we took you too) as soon as we close the office. Sometimes we take them with us when we go to water our plots at the community garden, but usually we go without them so they aren't sitting in the truck waiting. Dori seems to be changing a little ~ more sniffing like a dog will do. Occasionally will sniff out a spot to do her 'business'. A little more interaction with Maggie or with us. In fact, the other day, she came to me when I called her. First time, pretty cool. Still knitting like a crazy old person, as you would expect. When we went to Wyoming last month, I knitted in a teepee!!! OK, I was tickled anyway. I was working on a sweater for me and a pair of socks. I was still working on those socks earlier this month when I went to a special Seattle Mariner's game for knitters. That was great fun! My first ever live game, pretty cool. Nothing like watching it on TV. I also had a blanket started the night before (just in case I finished the socks) for a pregnant co-worker that I'm still trying to finish. Basically a diagonal square with a fancy border, hoping to have it done with a pair of socks (oh, I got those done too ~ course baby socks just take a couple days) earflap hat and cardigan. Work has been stupid slow but I blame summer and the county fair for that, hopefully next week I will be so busy the time will fly.
I hope the time flies for you too. I hope you have lots to read or eat or do to stay busy. Keeping your head down and stay out of danger, I'm hoping. Don't be to anxious about stuff in the future or generally out of your hands/control, that'll make you crazy. Just focus on what's in front of you. Focus ~ that's important.
OK, I just thought of something funny. A tenant told me a joke and I hope I remember it. Let's test my short-term memory! Here it is: A woman meets an Indian man (I would have changed this to 'Native-American' to be PC but this is the way he told it) with three feathers in his hair. She asks him 'how did you get those feathers?' and he says 'I made love to three beautiful women.' 'Oh, dear!' she says and walks on. She meets a second Indian with ten feathers in his hair and asks him 'how did you get those feathers?' and he says 'I made love to ten beautiful women.' 'Oh, dear!' she says and walks on. She meets a third Indian who is wearing a full headress, feathers on his head all the way down his back and dragging on the ground. She asks him 'how did you get those feathers?' 'Oh, I made love to everything' he says. 'Oh, dear!' she says. 'No deer' he says. 'They jump too high and run too fast.'
Oh, that was bad. But I remembered it, that was the cool part. Just remember I love you, that's the BEST part. ~tammy
