September 28, 2009

Dear Jeremiah,

It was so great talking to you and hearing your voice yesterday. It made my day that’s for sure. I got just basic driving directions for you from Eugene, OR. It links up with 84 eventually. I still think that it’s better to start from Portland, better road and it may be faster than driving over the cascades. It says 36 hours for drive time. I think you should add at least 12 hours to that for pit stops and such, like weather conditions, traffic. You don’t want to cut it close ya know. But anyways now you guys can start making plans. I’ve been to Ft Stewarts website several times for Quincy, but not really finding much information. The 3rd has 4 battalions plus support. Maintenance crews, supply. I could get driving directions to the main Gate. If I had a starting point. It is inland a bit and maybe an hour NW from Savannah, GA. It is located on over 200,000 acre’s. So I believe that makes it bigger that Ft Campbell. I also think that it’s light infantry. The site mentions switching from heavy to light, but that may just be a portion of the brigade. Once he finds out what battalion he’s assigned to it would be easier to gather information. I think each smaller group has it’s own website. The 3rd infantry are called “dog faced warriors” and a English bull dog named Rocky is their mascot. Like your Screaming Eagles. There’s isn’t a lot of information on housing tho. I’m sure they got the usual barracks. Quincy needs to already have a housing request in for his family before he gets there if his wife and little girls are joining him there. The site says to make sure you have funds (money) to pay deposits on housing, utilities and other moving costs. So its Monday again. It is pretty cool today temperate wise from yesterday. Joseph wore his coat to work today. He has weak California blood. =) I have sweats on just like I said I would. They feel so much better than those raggity old pants I was wearing. No fly, bonus! Dylan, that I work with is on vacation this week to Disney World. I think he is going to get rained on. I told him to check the weather so he knows what to pack. Do you think people still watch the weather channel? I used to look at it when it first came out, but never do now. They have it on TV at airports. I even have a hard time finding the channel itself. Today I’m working in Crazy Carl’s apartment. T204, aka fire unit. He first lived in R103, couldn’t get along with his neighbors. Freaked out all the time screaming. So he move out to a monastery, comes back here a couple months later to T204. and surprise, can’t get along with he neighbors. So now he’s gone again. Yeah. Hope he stays gone! I had a couple come out and look at Pony. She, Janet, works with a lady who got Ella, Pony’s sister. They think she’s cute of course and want a couple of days to think about it. Which is good. I like it when people take the time to make the right decision for them. No buyers regret. They have time to prepare for bringing a puppy home. I told them the first that they were the first people to come and look and that I haven’t really advertised Pony yet. So we’ll see. Hopefully I hear from them in a couple of days. Everything went good with putting the trim around Shirley’s windows, she still needs to do around the top and corners. I left my chop saw there for her to use. She has most of it painted. It’s a light grey/purple color, the trim will be a few shades darker. I told her that the next project it the front steps and that we should create a carport for her to park under. So she doesn’t get wet going in and out and doesn’t need to scrape frost and snow off in the winter. Next year. =) My 1pm lunch alarm just went off. No lunch for me today, no car. The truck needs to go to emissions this month to get its tabs renewed. Hope is passes =) someone told me that their car didn’t pass because the check engine light was on. I wonder how many times the truck’s been thru cause it always has the check engine light on since we bought it. It won’t be available to you 100% of the time. Wes uses it sometimes and Mike sometimes too. Wes would rather use the KIA because it gets better gas mileage. So as long as I can get to work, it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. Well I better get finished up here. I love you as always and miss you bunches.

Love Mom

P.S. Say hay to Quincy for me.
