Dearest Jeremiah,
Hello to my favorite. It’s Sunday evening. It has been a long time since I had the chance to write to you on the weekend it seems. I had my phone with me all day today but I guess that you must have been busy or not aloud to go to the PX today. I am feeling a little down about it, especially after missing your call last weekend. I even dragged Wes to Fatty Patty’s for breakfast in the hopes that you would call me while we were there and you could talk to some of your friends there. Bacon was good today. J. Well I am down to one puppy, Pony. That one girl that you helped pick out that puppy that one time finally got her puppy. She was so happy, she waited so long. After the puppies went, I started cutting hair on the dogs and cut everyone’s hair except for Gretchen. I don’t think I’m going to be cutting her hair in the future, except for around her face. Because last week I discovered freckles on her skin when I gave her a bath. So even though I didn’t cut her very short this summer, what was left wasn’t enough to protect her skin. I saved Sadie for last, she is the easiest to cut. I think she actually enjoys it. She never fights having her face cut close. I swear all I cut today on Dutch was his face and it took as long to do that as all of Sadie. Lol. When she is cut close she is more silver, her hair shows more chocolate as it gets longer. Anyways, I cut them all today because I’m not planning on cutting them for a while. So they can have longer coats for the winter. I sent an email today to the guy from Bellingham who was interested in a puppy and said to let him know if one comes available. He is a firefighter and works something like 3 or 4 days on and 3 or 4 days off. He has a family too. It may take a few days to get a response from him due to his schedule. So we will see. I didn’t get a letter from you Friday or Saturday. I think I can predict a pattern of when I get mail from you. I usually get 2, sometimes 3 letters on Monday, nothing on Tuesday, 1 on Wednesday, 1 on Thursday and either Friday or Saturday, but not usually both. Even though you write 6 days or so a week, delivery to me isn’t daily. I’m so looking forward to hearing how you did qualifying on the shooting range last Tuesday. I sure hope you get that Candy Bar! That would be awesome that’s fer sure. I was looking more at the Ft. Campbell website, there is so much information there it kind of takes a while to find what your looking for. When you get to Campbell you will be or should be assigned a “sponsor” that will kind of show you around the place and help you at the beginning to get settled into life there at Ft. Campbell. The website says that it will be someone of your rank or close to your rank. I also looked at housing. The housing is massive that’s for sure. There are the typical higher ranking homes for the Base Commander and other higher ups and their families, those are close to a golf course and swimming pool. There are other neighborhoods for officers, non-commissioned officer’s. Those are usually houses. There are several Apartment type complexes (some bigger than Evergreen Park) for single lower ranking soldiers and their families. And then of course there are the Barracks. Which you know that you are going to, since you’re a PV2 and single with no dependants. Hopefully you can get promoted and move up to dorms or apartments for singles. But it will be barrack life for awhile, I hope that it is different than what you are experiencing right now and I believe that it will be because you will be billeted with guys who have the same goals as you do working at the same thing. I’m sure that there will be the usual numbskulls and you will have to spend time pondering how in the world did they make it to the 101st? There will be guys you hate or can’t stand and there will be guys that you will connect to right away and be buddies with. It doesn’t seem to matter much where you are, people are always pretty much the same. It’s the people you enjoy working with that keeps you there working along side them when you feel sometimes to be surrounded be idiots. Just look at my situation. I really sometimes can’t stand the office staff, I tolerate Scarecrow. Dylan’s okay but keeps to himself. Joseph is the connection that keeps me motivated to do my job, and that’s mostly because we are like minded and share the same goals. When I complain about him it’s mostly because inside I know that what he is saying or asking for, is true or I should be getting done and I’m slacking. Haha. Man I missed you so much today. All day I’m waiting for your call so I could grovel and tell you how sorry I was to miss your call last week. You were just plain in my thoughts all day today and I was reminded all day about how much I miss you. I had been planning on going to the dog park today but I pretty much cancelled that until Pony either goes home with someone or she has all her puppy shots. Today would have been a great day to go t the park, the weather was perfect. Just enough sun and the temperature was perfect. Oh well. Take care of yourself, soldier. I love you and miss you bunches and bunches.
Love Mom.
